Battle of the Bands aftermath
Written by Black Moor Saturday, 27 June 2009 22:44
So, it's come to our attention that some people have been calling in to Q104 to make complaints about us losing to Children of Eve in the battle of the bands the other night. We really appreciate the thought, and all the support, but we're going to have to ask anyone who is doing this to please stop, because it reflects poorly on us as a band. The impression at Q104 is that we're encouraging people to do this, and as a result they are less than impressed with us at the moment. We absolutely do not condone these calls, and as I said, we would ask people to stop. We're a little disappointed that we lost, yeah, but mostly we're just happy for our friends in Children of Eve. We've got plenty of other opportunities for big things, so this loss is not a big deal at all. We just want to accept defeat graciously and move on to the next thing.Again, thanks to everyone for your support.

Congrats to Children of Eve

Thanks to everybody who came out to the Toothy Moose last night. We gave it our best shot, and tied for first place, but the judges gave it to Children of Eve in the end. It was still an awesome show, one of the biggest we've played in a long time, and we had a blast, despite shitty sound due to technical difficulties with the PA and monitors.
In other news, we've been asked to play on Canada Day at Alderney Landing in Dartmouth, so come check that out. I'm not sure the city really understands what kind of band we are, so the potential for hilarity is high. We're playing immediately following the opening of the Maritime Fiddle Festival, around 4 PM. We'll also be announcing an album release date very, very soon, and have one other big announcement to make within the next few days. Stay tuned!
Victory

So thanks to everyone who came out to Monte's, we couldn't have put on such a good show without you guys. Good performances by all the bands, especially Broken Ohms, but we emerged victorious. We'll be picking up $3000 in free gear courtesy of Noble Music in Enfield, as well as some recording time at their studio, plus a feature appearance on Q104's Route 104 sometime in the near future.
Now we move on to the regional finals against bands from New Brunswick and PEI. The PEI winners are Death Valley Driver, and the NB finals are tomorrow, so we should know what the competition looks like then. It's going to be at The Toothy Moose in Halifax rather than Monte's, and will be in two weeks time. Hope to see you all there.
News, and a new track posted!

The short version:
We're participating in a contest sponsored by Q104 to win an opening slot on the KISS show on the Halifax commons July 16. We played at Monte's this past Thursday for the first round, and won. We're moving on to the Nova Scotia finals, which are on June 11th, 9PM at Monte's in Dartmouth (see the upcoming shows section). If we win this round, we win some free gear, recording time, and an appearance on Q104, plus the chance to move on to the regional finals against the winners from PEI and New Brunswick. If we win that, we get to open up the KISS show on the commons. So come out to Monte's and cheer us on to victory.
Also, things are finally coming together for the release of The Conquering. We should be able to announce a firm date for an album release show soon, so stay tuned. In light of that, I've posted another new track from the album, so have a listen to The Human Disease in the media section.
Finally, our recent mini-tour of the Maritimes went well, though we unfortunately had to cancel our last date in St. John, New Brunswick, due to strep throat. We're planning to hit the road again at the end of the summer though, so we'll more than make up for it then.
Now, Eric's version:
Greetings one and all, Eric here with an update of our current exploitations and activities.
We have included ourselves into a contest provided by a local radio frequency distribution tower building to make ourselves appear on stage in an opening spot for perennial rock monsters KISS. Yes the knights in satan's service have opened their stage to one local act who is triumphant against all other opponents in this all out sonic battle to the death. Round one has come and gone and when the collars settled it was us who stood victorious among the valiant but defeated foes. Our scouts report that round two is set to fall on the 11th day of the sixmonth, just under a fortnight from this very day. The halls of Monte's Showbar will once again ring out with the roars of anger, dispair and triumph as many fall but one survives to take on invaders from far away lands on the ilse of Prince Edward and Neo Brunswick to defend our homeland from opposing forces. Only then will a winner emerge with a raging fury that can only be absorbed by mass crowds of ravenous, leather clad maniacs who want the best and have paid top dollar to receive the best.
As was once foretold and passed on from month to month and turned to years, the coming of "The Conquering", the crushing shrapnel offering will finally be released in a short time, sonic alchemy and wizardry has been cast and re-cast to produce the final bastard product of the accumulation of the past 3 years. Keep low to the ground and await the coming.
The recent warpath set upon by ourselves and the unstoppable aid of In this Style and Destroy hope set flame to rural Nova Scotia and neighbouring PEI. A dark plague visited to us prevented spreading our conquest to New Brunswick but rest assured that the day will some arrive when your town is conquered, your homes burned and your women ravaged.
Stay tuned, be warned...
